Laura Peden

 

Laura Peden established Head Start Music in Perth, Western Australia, in January 2010.

Laura has more than 25 years' experience teaching recorder and flute at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, as well as conducting woodwind ensembles and school bands, in Victoria, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Laura has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma of Music (Performance) from the Victorian College of the Arts and an A.Mus.A Diploma (AMEB) in flute. She is a member of the West Australian Music Teachers' Society (WAMTA), Recorder and Early Music Society of WA (REMSWA) and the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia, and has a current Working With Children Card and National Police Certificate.

Laura also teaches flute, recorder, theory and aural training at Perth College and privately.

In addition, Laura has a keen interest in Western Australian history. She is the author of Giving Their Best: A History of East Maylands Primary School, 1954-2003 and Treaured Island: 175 Years of Growing Up In Guildford. Treasured Island is available for purchase from the Swan Valley Visitor Centre in Guildford, WA.
